3073: The Careless Kind

PEOPLE! When there are two turn lanes leading onto two roads, STAY IN YOUR LANE and don't change lanes until it is clear! I nearly got hit by this fuckhead WENCH because she did not do that and nearly hit me getting into my lane straight out of the turn THEN SLOWED DOWN TO TWO MILES AN HOUR.

Times like these are perfect examples of honk conditions, yet when I moved my hand to the horn, I failed to connect. I don't know if it's from wearing the wrist brace or what, but it was like this invisible air bubble keeping me from laying into it. By the time I'd wrapped my brain around what was happening, the window had passed, and I would have appeared to be honking for no fucking reason.

Can I... train myself to react more like they do in the movies? [almost pre-emptively honking, rather than swerving to avoid] I need to lay into it on occasion, because otherwise these people likely think as I do, "Well, they didn't honk, so no foul." NononononononoBAD XO I know part of it is I don't want to appear to be one of those impatient fuckers who lay into the horn a split second after a light turns green [literally, like five seconds!], but really--safety and all!

That may be the other part, actually--I'm more concerned about not getting hit than with laying on a horn to make noise. Noise = warning, tho, which = safety :p

...so I found a Griffin iTrip car adapter... thing that allows me to play [listen to] my touch via my car radio, which is theoretically functional but iffy in practice. It may be from being in the D.C. area, where almost EVERY frequency is occupied by what program or other, but I get interference no matter what setting I use.

Still, it's pretty good for a $40 device [interference is minimal and comparable to failing to pick up a radio station with 100% clarity], and it doesn't use batteries like the $15 [generic brand I can't remember] experiment I tried for the trip down for Annaleise's wedding. So, pleased for now, considering there wasn't a pricey alternative that plugs my iPod directly into the stereo for 0% interference--Lone suggested the tape deck adapter, but I has no tape deck and don't want to can has one because that seems too roundabout for what I can has. I'd look for said pricey alternative, but that would take time I don't feel like I have [I got the Griffin model on my lunch break].
