So this guy's been in my head the past month-odd or so, but--try as I might--he still isn't setting to paper quite the way I like. There's too much [or not enough?] of that Draco Malfoy look going on, and colour's going to be worse, 'cause he'll end up looking Draco Weasley =p but Mum liked him all the same, for that reason that parents like to compliment [ha ha ...but, really, I have no idea]. Some of you might know who it is, but I have no idea how few of you that would be [--one?]. In any event, don't be fooled, 'cause all the rules have changed in this iteration.
My main problem, as I see it, is I'm much better/more reliable at writing than drawing [particularly as out of habit as I am with the latter], yet when I read my stories or--however rarely--touch pencil to paper, I know in my heart that these stories were meant for a comic medium. Picking the occasional scene for a book illustration or cover is painfully difficult, because so many of them are good that I want to do them all. I'll just never have the time or energy to make that happen, barring early retirement or actually *gasp!* hiring an assistant or two.
This isn't to say I don't have hope. There are no fewer than three artists--on LJ, no less, though there are those who aren't, also--who inspire me to believe I can one day churn out something much the way I want it even if it's not Right Now. Maybe getting older will change my perspective and give me the focus I need.
Or maybe I'll just get older. Either way, I do not have to rush things, especially given my own personal experience that mulling over something can generate new ideas superior to the originals.
As I Tweeted, Caspian's at $54.2M, but will that save the Final Four? Narnia's not my favourite series, but it'd still be a shame to finally remake it really awesome-like, then quit not even halfway because it's not making enough. Then again, that's why Hollywood loves trilogies, is it? 'cause seven's a rather dragging-it-out number by comparison. If I hate myself enough to kill all of my free time before work, I might try to see it again during the week when I don't have to mail anything [or use mailing as a means of getting myself awake early], unless Char is up to seeing it again AND Indy this coming weekend.
