2541: The Occasion

You'll note I haven't yet reported fully on weekend hijinks. That was Intended Post Pt. II, but it ended up being Whole Other Day's Post. At any rate, unlike the general fiasco that was Japan, I don't look forward to and may not be prepared for a revisit ( Read more... )

As was explained to me later, the guys who messed with my TV had also just taken someone else's PS2 to use (and that guy was also apparently quite pissed at having his stuff taken without permission).

Now, the standard line of etiquette is that, since Kain is running the damn thing, you ask him about various things if you are unaware. I made it a point to locate Kain and chat with him before I did anything. This, of course, is the problem with people showing up who aren't friends of Kain.

Now, granted, the black guy (I don't think I ever got what his name/handle was) did later come and appologize for flipping the TV and I was very calm and understanding at that point. Thankfully, the TV did not seem to sustain any permanent damage.

The biggest problem illustrated by the entire event though is the utter lack of respect for other people's property.

The other thing is, last year, I had the TV tate'd for most of the event, and nobody messed with the damn thing. Then again, Rusty may have had my back on that one since his computer was set up right next to my TV and he spent most of his time at his comp (obviously, he knew about tate'ing).

Had you, like, just played it before someone moved it?

And you know, from the sounds of things I don't feel so bad I couldn't make it. :(

It was Chars had played it but unplugged everything before we went to get grubs. When we came back, there were two jerks who had untated the set and hooked up the PS2 they took from that other guy's room. Chars spat obscenities at them for tipping the set, then the one got mad and turned off the system, unplugged the set, AND IMMEDIATELY TATED IT AGAIN.

Luckily no permanent damage, but Terry said he'd seen the rainbowing when the guys were playing.
