Got this e-mail from the Speech and Language Therapy department at Reading this morning:

Thanks guys - sorry about the rant - was just a bit upset when I got the e-mail this morning. Have been talking to my Dad about it all, and although the course does sound interesting and I am still going to keep my options open, I think I only really went for it because I wanted to rush into something else and it seemed like the only option.

My Dad said to me I need to do something that I really really want to do, which is true I think. Speech and Language Therapy does look good, but it's not something I am desperate to do. I told him the only thing (apart from being a doctor) that I have really wanted to do for a while is Play Therapy. So we have started looking into this a bit - I need a degree before I can do it, and have to be 25, so am now thinking what degree I can do, and other ways of doing it (such as Open University). Just got a lot of thinking to do!

I have e-mailed back the lady though and told her that none of what she said is in the prospectus! Have also asked if I can maybe go and talk to someone at Reading to find out more about the course and just see for certain if I think it's for me or not. Shall keep you updated :)

I really have nothing useful to say except that I hope you find something you really want to do- my sister has looked into play therapy a bit too (although I think she's now settled on movement therapy instead) and it looks really interesting :o)

Thinking of you lots sweetie and I'm really sorry I've been awol this year.

Xx
