The other day I took a nap after coming back and promptly woke up only at 9.35 p.m. I was feeling hungry so I grabbed the keys, went out and ta-pao-ed KFC. But had I not been in a chicken mood, I could actually have sat down and chosen what I wanted to get. Just one week ago, had I woken up at the same time, I'd have been screwed.
Ahhhhh, I love Singapore.... :)
I've been off LJ for the past few days even after coming back to SG and am woefully behind reading my f-list, what with the internet downtime just before leaving Perth and the horrible mess that I encountered upon my return. After 15 months of neglect, my room resembled a war zone, and I had to spend 3 days just making it habitable. It's still in a mess right now but at least it's liveable. It also happened to be the CNY holiday, so I had to take time out to visit relatives, and everybody didn't believe me when I said that for 3 days after I returned, the only local food I'd eaten was prata at Jalan Kayu right outside my place!
Singapore hasn't really changed much-but that's also because I haven't really ventured into the heart of Orchard or the CBD, which I heard has completely revamped itself. I will find out tomorrow when I head down to Ngee Ann City for my family's traditional Ren Ri dinner. There have been some surprises though. I found out only yesterday that the condo 2 streets away has been en-bloc-ed and demolished; it had still been standing and occupied when I left for Perth. (That condo had always been rather special to me because many, many years ago, when I was in Sec 1, I used to go for Chinese tuition with this really sweet and soft-spoken RGS girl who stayed there and who I later had quite a thing for. She did ask me out once but my mum torpedoed any chance of that happening and we never really spoke since. Since then, every time I pass that condo I look over at her unit and wonder about the what-ifs and if-onlys, haha.)
Anyway, another reason why I'm behind reading my f-list is because I've been attempting to resuscitate my erstwhile non-existent nightlife. So far I've managed to find myself at Wine Bar, Mimolette and J Bar, and have met quite a few interesting people. I'll certainly be targeting other spots over the next few weeks!
Oh, and if you're wondering what is that 'best seat in the world' I'm referring to, it's where I sat on the flight back from PER to SIN, and it had a fantastic view:
EL and I had identified ourselves to the cabin crew and requested for the captain to let us sit in the jumpseat to observe the take-off and landing. And so my view of the entire flight from top-of-descent to touchdown at Changi looked like this. Trust me: it's nothing short of AWESOME!
