I kleened! I kleened teh kitchenz!
Ok, so while I was out (Sarah's house, bein' a hippie, tie-dyin' n stuff), Mum and Ben did some dishes. THANK GOD. They did the first two layers of dishes, the ones on the stove and on top of/around the sink. I was feeling restless this morning, so I did the final load of dishes, the ones actually *in* the sink. Then the sink was a mess, so I cleaned the sink. Then I said to myself "Hey. I've got the sponge. I'm in the mode now." So I cleaned the stove. And the counter around the stove. And the plates under the heating elements. Then I moved all the shite off the counter (most of our counter space has been buried by an unmoving mass of accumulation for the past several... years.) and cleaned under them, revealing yards of new counter real estate just waiting, ready, and ripe for use. Then I did the recycling. And I would have swept and maybe even mopped if it weren't for the fact that all the stuff that was on the counter is now on two little folding tables in the kitchen, waiting for Mum to deal with them. They're staying there, dammit. I'm not putting them back on the counter.
Too bad I've probably shot my cleaning wad on the kitchen today. I'd wanted to get my new computer desk out here and work on the last big stages of my room-arrange. Ah well. I'll start the process at least.
In other news, I HAZ A TIE DYE. Three articles of my clothing have become ridiculously colorful. One, an old white vest, now looks as though I've been paint-splattered. A white tank top I got from
Dharma specifically for this purpose is now blue, green, and purple in a sort of V-pattern, with some white. (I didn't think to get the other side, for some reason. Oh well, it looks cool.) And finally, a short rayon tank-top dress is BRIGHT PINK/YELLOW/ORANGE/PURPLE SWIRLY. It's nuts. It's probably the busiest and least organized of the pieces that were made yesterday, with the most variation of color. It was also the first thing that was dyed, so it has the brightest light red and the most neon yellow. It's just nuts. In hindsight, I should have done it last, as a piece de resistance, instead of first. But it went into the soda ash first, so cest la vie. It's actually very close to what I wanted - similar color scheme, though I originally envisioned more orange/red and less pink. But it's crazy-blur-spiral-swirly-explody-madness, which I like in a tie-dye. And it's got great color variation.
The tie-dye party was more tie-dye than party, but it was fun. A *liiiiittle* awkward when Amber and Charlie left, and it was just me, Sarah, and Robert. I dunno, there was something weird about hanging out with two so very different best friends at once. I think Robert should have tie-dyed his towel or something.
AND I'M STILL ITCHY IN DA CROTCHETTY.
