Last weekend was the first time I have worked at the winery for some weeks. We spent 2 days ( about 22 hrs) bottling. It is hard, backbreaking and tedious work. Not the romance portrayed in the movies. Still, besides my step dad, the company was lovely and we all had a wonderful time soaking up the sun, breathing the fresh mountain air and drinking cold mineral water from the tap. I came back to the city to be in an especially good mood and have stayed that way through the week. It is amazing to me that a little sunshine can change my whole perception on life. Maybe it was also all the grape devas welcoming me back that has livened my mood.:)
This weekend I am going to use my Pimsleurs Spanish and re-learn some more Spanish. I think I’ll just listen to the vineyard the rest of the time as I get Steve’s rows pruned. That is the only part I did not get to last year, so it is where I will begin the spring pruning this year.
My new job is still awesome. Although I did not get the permanent position I applied for (I was seriously under qualified) I did get a visit from the big boss and he said they were very impressed with me and I made it into the final 2 above many others with more experience. He also said after we find out what shakes out in April, there are still permanent possibilities for me.
Every week we are having a girls night where the girls just get together and hang. Last night there were 6 of us and I made sangria and grilled veggies and chicken. We sat outside until midnight talking and enjoying the spring night air.
Spring is here and I couldn’t be happier!!!
