"You can live to be a hundred if you give up all the things that make you want to live to be a hundred."
Woody Allen I’m 51 years old. Something happens to your body when you get to be middle age. The things that you want to do you no longer should. Women can blame it on menopause, but men go through changes also. Although they may be more subtle. If women can have menopause, lets call our changes womenopause.
Have I become one of those middle aged men who can’t take their eyes off of the young ladies? I hope not. I always remember the Harry Chapin line,:
"I've got this problem with my aging I no longer can ignore, A tame and toothless tabby can't produce a lion's roar."
Forgive those men , they’re just going through Womenopause!
I love to eat. When I was younger, I could eat anything. Now my diet should consist of anything that would bore a monk who was a member of PETA!
I loved to play ball. Although, I was always a slow runner. I still think of jogging as a punishment for missing a lay-up. My High School coach, a particularly sadistic man, who yell, after a miss, "Jello, Three Laps!" Running has bad memories.
The thought of playing ball now is just a distant memory. About ten years ago, I got into a two on two pick-up basketball game with a couple of twenty year olds. We won. My teammate was an excellent player. I caught my breath 4 hours later.
I don’t feel sorry for myself. It’s a waste of time. It’s not as if you can do anything about it, and it’s better than the alternatives.
