I neglected to mention that my entire 'spontaneous travel comic' is online now at my deviantart page (
jello-bomb.deviantart.com) so yeah. I'm working on my mafia comic again now... and trying to get into digital art but IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT. Digital art is a biatch to get used to (unless you grew up with it... which I didn't really).
This entry is image-heavy- lots of vineyard photos.
So this is me in a gorilla mask and gloves, and an afro. I answered the door with this lot on for all of xmas day. The relatives were... not too impressed. I recall the most common greeting to be "Hello! ...oh..."
This dog was sitting in the passenger seat of a boat at Fremantle boat harbour. No-one else was in the boat. It was his boat. We watched for ages and nothing changed. It was weird.
We went to South Perth a month or so ago and I took some photos of Perth City, then photoshopped the colour a little.
So, my sister Kathleen and I went to Margaret River for the John Butler concert (which was awesome). I recall asking Mum two days before we left, 'So where is MR? Like, between here and Mandurah?' and she replied 'Actually it's about three times as far as Mandurah' and I was like 'Oh I see'. Haha ignorance is bliss eh?
We got there Friday evening and went out to dinner, then the next morning we went out to Jewel Cave.
How cool is this?? It's like... a waterfall. But made of rock. Awesome.
Kathleen said these stalactites reminded her of Dr. Zoidberg of Futurama. I thought it was a decent comparison.
The really thin stalactites are called "straws". In the first cave there were two straws that were super long. Apparently they're among the longest in the world. YOU GO, MARGARET RIVER CAVES
More straws in the "lake" cave. There was no lake. It's more than 1.3 metres below the cave floor. False advertising, am I right?
This poor little possum died in the cave over 500 years ago. It looks big here because I zoomed in heaps.
Warning: terrible photoshopping ahead... I didn't even bother to play with the contrast or colours, I just whacked these four together to make a lazy panorama:
This is this first vineyard we visited. It was near the Leeuwin vineyards, where the concert was held that night. I have learned in this trip that vineyards are totally beautiful places.
Especially Voyager.
Seriously, this place was like Alice in Wonderland beautiful. Check this out:
It was just so peaceful and nice, it's no wonder they charge so much to have weddings here.
The flag was about twice the size of the one they flew around the river on Australia Day... so, about 50 metres across or something ridiculous. That flag is actually in the road behind these paths.
Mum said this was a 'Dutch' style. I like it. To the left there is the rose garden. That was totally Alice in Wonderland. There was even a gazebo.
We drove through Gracetown the next morning. It's a nice town, lots of weird and cute beach houses, and the beach was packed as it was a hot day.
Evans and Tate vineyards.
Until next time!
