It is Merlin... I just had to check it out since you weren't sure. But before I checked, I was trying to think who else it could be, but there's really not anyone else it can be since this gifspam is of a specific scene in 4x09. I was thinking...yeah, the person looks a bit off but it can throw people off if you only see a part of the person's face. I kept coming back to Merlin because he's the only the character that fit...
[Merlin and Gaius peer through the gaps in the closet door. Lancelot du Lac emerges from Merlin's bed chamber and walks over the circle. The circle glows red and a skeleton washes over Lancelot du Lac's features. They hear the door close and step out of the closet.]
I didn't notice when I watched the ep, but it sure stands out here. LOL. Definitely not Colin.
The problem with the arm in 5.13 is that it can't be Arthur because he's not in the water yet. How could anyone believe it's Freya?
Were you around when we were discussing the cave in 4.04 and how it was Balinor's cave? I even asked Alice Troughton about it (or someone did) and she said, no no, it wasn't Balinor's cave, but it totally was and we all know it. *shakes head at TPTB*
Yeah, I agree that it definitely stands out in this gifset. Hadn't noticed it in the episode.
You have a good point about it not being Arthur. I think it was just wishful thinking even if it's not logical. I kind of like the idea of Arthur retrieving the sword. True he wasn't within the lake, but he was already dead before the dragon took them to the lake. I see it as maybe Arthur's spirit/ghost being present in the lake...a little early yes, but it's a nice thought for me even if that wasn't the intent.
I think it was mentioned in a commentary or interview that they just got a diver who was on hand to do the scene, and it appears there was a shortage of female divers. :p The intent was Freya, but they clearly were rushed for time if they OK'd the arm shot when it's very clearly not a woman's.
No, I don't think I was. I vaguely recall the cave, and yeah, there was a similarity. Surprised they denied it. Hmm...
Funny the things we notice when we can slow down, right?
On the other hand, if it's a man's arm, what are we supposed to think, right? Clearly it's not Freya's arm. I wonder if they ever used her arm.
I haven't listened to the commentary that closely and I'm not sure I listened to 5.13 at all.
I am pretty sure it was actually the same cave and so all us fans were like, well, clearly that was Balinor's cave and we kept waiting for Merlin or Arthur to make some comment about it, but nooooo. *sigh* They should have totally gone with the fans' interpretation.

I checked the transcript for 4x09 (http://merlin.wikia.com/wiki/Transcript:Lancelot_du_Lac) and here it is (gifspam has the "it's time" line and then right after is Gaius and Merlin peering through the gaps...):
MERLIN (whisper)
It's time.

ETA: Never mind...:p I ( ... )

It's definitely not Colin Morgan.
Looks like the PTB needed a shot of an eyeball and Colin was elsewhere, so they used random stand-in dude.
