Quilting question

Dec 09, 2012 20:34

As you all know, I've been making little quilts and now my mom wants me to make pillow covers for her in this style. Great! I'm very excited to do so, but for one of the covers she has requested a sea fan.  I am pretty bad at free motion quilting, otherwise I'd just go for that option because that's obvious.  Any ideas for something else that would work for the lacy part? I can use fabric for the thicker "veins", but I'm a little stuck on what to use for the lacy part.  Someone on quilting suggested doilies, but I don't know how durable that would be. I'd hate to put something on there that would not stand up to use.

In other news, I made good progress on my list. No fic writing today. I did manage a little sewing. Hoping to do more before I go to bed.  Photobook is almost done.  Holiday cards are stalled. Airline tickets are pending purchased!  But, I did work on all that stuff today.  And I beta'd.  So go me.

Anyone want to bitch with me about how Merlin treats women horribly?  Ugh. I won't miss that.

ETA: lewisian_gneiss told me about this science focused advent calendar put on by the Royal Instittution. There is a new video for every day. It's pretty cool.  We are enjoying it enormously! Thanks LG!
