DD1 stayed home again today.  She's not technically sick any more, but she was very low energy this morning and hadn't eaten enough yesterday, so I wanted to keep her home to "fatten her up" for school tomorrow:)  She's been eating and I took her to Wendy's for chicken nuggets (since she missed chicken nuggets at school).  Now we are painting her ( Read more... )

Any idea how long it takes you to write say 1K worth of words? Finished.

That depends on a number of factors - if I have momentum/am in The Zone, perhaps around an hour with writing/first edit. If I'm having problems of some kind, it could take any amount of time! :) It also depends on what language I'm writing in.

LOL. The elusive zone.

Problems. Fah on the problems. I am tired of fic being sticky and problematic. (Remix fic, I'm looking at you:P).

Oooh, yeah. If I were to try to write in Italian, it would take hours longer.

Is it longer for you to write in English? How many languages do you write in?

Every fic has problems. Which is part of what makes writing interesting, too - trying to solve the problems, or sometimes, if you're lucky, having them solve themselves. :)

That was the time for writing in English, which is slower for me - and I only write in two languages! :)

Yes, definitely!

In the past, the problems were pretty much all plot related. In this case, I've got the plot (or the skeleton anyway), but it's more like a brain twister because of my take on the story and that's what's got me in a twist. I can only hope I get some revelation that clarifies everything!

:) Got it.

Plot, narration, character behaviour, wording, getting your mental image across... argh, there are so many problems. And many of them are quite fun to try to solve, to make your story the best it can be. Frustrating though twhen you can't find the right solution.

(Sometimes plot problems solve themselves when I've slept on them. Um, slept on them for a week or a month...)

Yes, exactly! And I do love the challenges.

Um, I don't have a month here. I need to get this figured out in the next week or so. I think I need to think of this fun and not pressure too. I can forget that I'm supposed to be having fun with this and take it too seriously. But fun is definitely better!

I take it too seriously all the time! :) Writing is serious to me, but of course it should be fun too, but fic is something I'm doing purely for my own pleasure, so... But sometimes I forget that, especially with the Big Bang, where there's quite a lot of pressure.

Yeah. Exactly. I don't perform well under pressure. I just have to think about this as serious fun, and get on with it. The remix fic is darker than what I usually write and that's giving me problems because I want to remain true to that, but I need to stay in my comfort zone.

This will all be clear at the end of next month when everything is revealed. Unless I need to vent about it under lock and key somewhere.

Um, I don't have a month here.
No, but then I'm sure you're a quicker thinker than me! :)

LOL. I don't think so. I don't think I have a reputation for thinking quickly. It may be true that I have more time (usually) to think about fic than you, but I doubt I'm faster.
