This post is brought to you by the letters A, C and the number 9.

My mom is having surgery for her cancer this morning. Here is what she wrote:

i don't need books or flowers or fruits or magazines....what i would like is for each of you to do a good deed in my name this week..i'd like to think that my cancer could have a positive effect in this ( Read more... )

I had a terrible night, filled with nightmares. I was feeling so awful this morning that I actually cancelled my class, and have been moping around. Then I read this post, and what your mom wrote, and felt a mental/spiritual shift, as everything fell into perspective. What am amazing woman she must be! (And what a wimp I am.) I don't know what I'll do today as far as a good deed, but I'll do something, and I'll think about her and send her all the healing vibes I can. (It might also offset the guilt I feel for cancelling class when I'm not even physically ill ( ... )

I had a different response that wouldn't post, but just wanted to say, mom is out and everything looks good now. I'm so relieved. I was expecting her to get out later.

(Here is what I had typed out before that I couldn't get to post:

:( I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad night last night. We all need mental health days. Don't be hard on yourself. I'm glad my mom's message lifted your spirits. That makes me feel like I've already done one good deed:)

You know, I'm not really scared at the moment. Maybe a little, but it's like the fear is so big, I can't see it. I am being good to myself today with all my distractions.

This was a lovely distraction. I always enjoy chatting with you. Want some fic recs to cheer you up? I just listened to Once and Futures (which I linked to yesterday I think) that was really cute. Have you read Pairing Pendragon/Merlin? That is just full of cuteness and awesomeness:)

Be good to yourself too sweetie.

What a wonderful thought in such a dreadful situation. I'm glad for you and your family that she's out of surgery and everything looks as good as possible. *hugs*

Ah, you were the one who was saying I must be scared. I wrote the drabble and a half about fear in response to this. Apparently I'm not very coherent this morning, so if this seems out of the blue, it probably is.
