Life is ok here, just a little topsy turvy. I've got a friend staying with us until he's settled and he has brought his adorable little dog too.  It makes me wish I had a slightly bigger house so I could go somewhere and hide at times ( Read more... )

What are cellular shades?

Hope you get some peace soon. When does school start? Will DD2 have preschool again? (OMG, I can't believe she'll be in K next year!)

Cellular shades are also called honeycomb shades.

DD1 starts school next week. DD2 starts in two weeks. DD2 will be in school four mornings a week. Thank god.

I've been unimpressed with Hunter-Douglas, supposedly the "best" name in cellular blinds. Their internal cords snap after a few years, can occasionally be repaired but it's tough, and then they keep breaking til you replace them. I have been happy with whatever Home Depot calls their store brand, but I'm not sure all of them have a top-down option available. I'd go to Home Depot or Lowe's and ask them about the different ones they have available.

Thanks for the data point! I think we might go with the store brand of Next Day Blinds. That's what I'm leaning towards at the moment anyway. I believe they have a lifetime warranty.

You're welcome! Happy to help. We recently replaced one of our broken ones with a blackout version and do I ever love it! Left it up by accident one night and didn't sleep nearly as well. So, anyway, I've got blinds on my mind.

Oh yeah. I knew it was you:) Thanks for responding. I'm getting helpful info. I think I want blackout shades in the girls' room, but not mine and definitely not in the front.
