Cold Mountain
I finished watching Cold Mountain this morning. I was glued to the screen. Glued. It is not an easy movie to watch; there are many painful scenes and it doesn't have a happy ending (I don't think I spoiled the ending, did I?) but it is deeply affecting. Watch it, but don't watch it right before bed.
