So, there was some fairness in the world. Sharon, the woman who sang "At Last" on saturday did win first place. My friend Holly won 4th place, because this idiot was trying to fix the contest by bringing his 10 really loud girlfriends. They were louder than everyone else combined, and didn't clap for anyone else. However, the dude "judging" who got the most applause saw that it was only 10 people clapping for this guy, and fairly, didn't give him first place. In other news, the power in our apartment went out at 9 pm last night, and it hasn't come back yet. Just when the night was cooling off and having a fan would've REALLY made a great difference. The electrical company came out to check what was up... and it turns out the fuse box was blown. Too many people had their air conditioning on, or something. Our apartment building's electrical system was not built with 21st century rates of consumption in mind. And our landlord is so freaking irresponsible, he hasn't gotten anyone out there to fix it yet. And I just went to the grocery store yesterday. If my milk and eggs and yogurt go bad, I will request that he pays for it. He should be on top of things! I've been up since 5 am because there wasn't enough of a breeze coming into the apartment to keep us comfortable. It's just like that time in the middle of winter when our heat just went the hell out, and stayed out for 3 days, and we had to wear 2 sets of pajama pants, 2 pairs of socks, and 2 sweatshirts to stay warm under a down comforter. August 1st can't come soon enough!! We're getting the hell out of that shithole. Right now I'm sitting at Node coffeeshop, yay for places where you can get coffee and wireless internet.
