By an Oath
"...others who became priests took their office without an oath, but this one [Jesus Christ] became a priest with an oath..." Hebrews 7:20-21
How interesting that the wife of the high priest, Elisheva wife of Aaron during the time of the Exodus (Exodus 6:23) and Jehoshabeath wife of Jehoiada during the time of the kingdom of Israel (2 Chronicles 22:11), both bear a name which means "oath of the Lord." Was this foretelling us of the High Priest who was yet to come - the one to be made priest by God by an oath (Psalm 110:4)?
Also, are Elisheva and Jehoshabeath figures of the Church - the Bride of Christ Jesus (Ephesians 5:32)? Elisheva's husband's name is Aaron, meaning "light." Jehoshabeath's husband's name is Jehoiada, meaning "knowledge of the Lord." And doesn't our Lord Jesus bring both light and knowledge to His Church, which is in covenant with Him by His precious blood (Matthew 26:28)? He, our High Priest and Sacrifice. The marriage of the Lamb. <3
"For it is the God who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." 2 Corinthians 4:6
