Christian brothers and sisters - has a tiny snippet of Scripture ever jumped into your mind and stuck on your heart? For me, phrases like "my daughter," "my Strength," "be with me," and "have mercy on me" are some that leap into my thoughts suddenly sometimes. It's as if my heart is beating to the ryhthm of that song. I felt in tune this morning when I read:
"Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You" Psalm 57:1a
"Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us!
For we are exceedingly filled with contempt." Psalm 123:3
Or have you ever read something that feels very familiar...and it turns out to be a repeated refrain in a Psalm? There are "refrains" throughout Scripture:
"Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever." Psalm 107:1, Psalm 136:1, 1 Chronicles 16:34, and others
"Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Your glory be above all the earth." Psalm 57:5, Psalm 57:11
"Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God." Psalm 42:5, Psalm 42:11, Psalm 43:5
I want my mind and heart to grow in song toward God until the mercy and truth of God flows from my heart as a stream of living water!
