Sennacherib king of Assyria!

Dec 02, 2011 23:06

Tonight in Bible study, we studied Isaiah 36-37 - the account of how the LORD, the God of Israel, saved Jerusalem from the power of Assyria so that "all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD, You alone."

So many concepts leapt out at us from the text: God's act of creation, His authority, His people, His salvation, how "the nations rage", rebellion, death, life, worship, the gospel. I can hear Nahum proclaim to Nineveh, "What do you conspire against the LORD? He will make an utter end of it." And so He did just that. He glorified His name in the defeat of His enemies and the preservation of His people. And this God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). "Who is like You? You're the Faithful One...The Faithful God is the God we can trust." -Attributes of God by Shai Linne

I have so much to learn from history - from the Scriptures!

Earlier today, I was digging through Old Testament texts that speak of the resurrection of the dead and the Lord Jesus' resurrection (Job 19; Psalm 2, 16, 110; Isaiah 25-26; Daniel 12). I want to better understand "chai" (life). I want to find truth in the midst of this pilgrimage. I want to submit to the King of kings, the Living God.

"Who can record Your graces / adored through scores of ages / Your reward is the nations / for You are the Lord of patience / Oh, Sovereign God, You are the Lord of patience / Your wrath, oh God, we deserve / Christ has taken / Gracious God, You are slow to anger / You love us patiently" -Attributes of God by Shai Linne
