Had zombie movie night with unbeguiled, shouldknobetter, arasan, and assorted other non-lj folk. It was great fun and I FINALLY got to see Zombieland. Also something horrifying called Tokyo Zombie, in which a pedophile teacher who molested boys got his penis bitten off by a zombie he invited to fellate it. SO. That was special.

Avatar - B-. Worth a look for the gorgeous scenery, effects, Sam Worthington, and Sigourney Weaver. Pretty much everything else is completely lame, except for Michelle Rodriguez and that guy from Bones (though that M.R. died is lame ( Read more... )

Alice in Wonderland - A. A delightfully madcap romp through Wonderland with a believably curious Alice. Possibly my favorite adaptation yet.

So I had this dream a few nights ago that I was Annabeth and I was fucking Percy Jackson underwater while Poseidon looked on. Prior to that we'd been going on adventures with Grover and some dolphins, but then it just got weird.

Naturally then I downloaded the Percy Jackson movie to watch, so, ( I have some comments... )

Strangely I can't remember all the new movies I've watched lately, though I'm sure there are more than this.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - C-. Incoherent and emo, this movie only scrapes by because it improved upon the worst aspects of the book and was clearly made for the lulz.

District 9 - C+. Worth watching to have seen it.

Star Trek XI - A-. Newer, shinier, and plot-dumpier.

Terminator Salvation - B-. The action scenes thrill, but the plot clunks along. Christian Bale and Bryce Dallas Howard are totally pwned by the lesser-known stars. Watchmen - C+. They could have had an excellent action movie if they cut out most of the talking. Could have had an artsier flick if they stopped being so obvious. Also, needs more JDM.
