It's Pronounced 'O-REG-A-KNOW..!

It's been a weird old day, hasn't it?

I mean besides all this furore about the alleged end of the world as predicted by a man who has in the past wrongly claimed to know when the end of the world is:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/05/21/eveningnews/main20065059.shtml

That's like asking the delusional guy with mental health issues whether or not he's talked to God directly recently, he'll probably say that he has but it doesn't mean that he necessarily has!

Is it actually a wise idea to be giving all these cults and extremists all this publicity? It makes for entertaining news and all that but really it is scaremongering.

Anyway, it's been a chillout day watching a lot of the bizarrest things TV has to offer:

- Man Vs Food - Big dude going round America eating gigantic meals and sweating a lot.
- Primal Grill - A cookery show presented by the least charismatic man who ever lived and who can't pronounce 'oregano.'
- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1396227/ - Documentary following a group of rednecks living their messed up lives, including a woman puzzling over why she had her baby taken off her after it was born with high levels of drugs in the child's body; startling stuff!
- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1316536/ - The Loved Ones - Has anyone else seen this film? I don't want to ruin it on here for anyone else!
- A gang of 3 preachers answering the questions on BEN tv, one rocks back and forth in religious ecstasy, one bellows incomprehensible rants and the other sits very still!
- A Rolling Stones live video where Mick Jagger and co are all so off their tits (and not in tune!), that he forgets that he is performing to a live crowd!

This all follows a beautiful gig from Mercury Rev and an ace night at the Ritz with Toni, Ed, Amy, Johnny, Emma and Damien. The last rock night to be staged there in fact, which is sad for a few reasons, me and Toni officially became a couple on a Monday night there and also because I've got some great memories of going there for the past decade. Their playlists are also some of the most varied but at least new nights that have sprung up to cover the gaps created by the dual loss of Rockworld and latterly, the Ritz, have reflected that.

Download tickets arrived today too, hooray!

television, armageddon!, mercury rev, festivals, rock, toni, friends
