Got the cabinet top assembled and installed. It still has one small piece to add, and maybe some sort of finish, but we will see. Saturday I spent some time playing with steel and tools I haven't gotten to use much, with some decent results. Then there was an afternoon of erranding and lunch. While out the ideas for a costume for that night's party was thought of and discussed. Upon returning home we went over to the studio to start. I started in on a leather back-scabbard for the dual katanas that I made for CONvergence last year but never used.
techdragon made me a vest that the scabbard attached to and went with my hat and kilt. She then went on to make her costume while I worked out the additions and fiddly bits to add to the vest base she made for me. I like how it turned out, there will be more done to it before it is worn at CVG next year.
Sunday I spent much of the day drilling holes in the studio wall. Having an SDS bit hammer drill makes this so much easier. I managed to put up a pair of 9 ft shelves, a 4'x6' piece of slat wall that I got at the restore, and re-hang the large cabinet that I had in the garage. It is now looking much more workshop like. I still have a few more things to hang and a lot of things to sort through, but it is in a mostly workable state for the moment, until I figure out how to move a few things that are still in the garage that are slated to move. The garage rearrangement is also seeing progress. Had the welder out for a few quick things, but I need to move the table again as the light was horrible. With the large wall cabinet gone it makes the options for the space layout much more varied.
Need to figure out what I'm doing for dust collection at both places. Think I'm going to let the finances settle out for a bit before making too many more changes. Have an appointment for the end of the month to insulate the exterior walls of the house, and as they take cash or check, I need to watch where the cash assets are to cover that.
Have some pick-up work to do tonight after I do a bit of re-arrangement and welding for myself. Then tomorrow night is an SCA demo down in Brooklyn, Wi that I am helping with. Saturday I have some leather-working commissions that I will be working on for most of the day, if those get to a pause point I will work on a base for the cabinets I got at SWAP the other week. Should be a good day to go through some more audio books. Those projects will most likely roll over into Sunday as well, as several of the stages require a lot of drying time.
