So, yesterday I was able to stay mostly on task. Started by dropping
alyska off at her arts thingy and then making a trip to Menards for a few things; router bit, cold weather extension cord, plug end for the new coolant heater socket on the Jetta, plug end for the double oven in the garage.
Upon returning home I moved the table top parts for the back booth tables into the basement to warm up a bit, the glue recommends the parts be above 60 degrees. While those were warming up I finally got around to eating something and I started the crockpot for dinner (seasoned sirloin tip roast). I glued up the two corner table tops and clamped the heck out of them and let them sit. While that was curing, I wired up the vanity that I hung over the utility sink with
techdragon's help over the break last month. When that was working (although I might wire it into a separate switch), I decided to hang the cabinet that had been sitting on the floor for a while. I think it was the one above the basement toilet when we bought the house, it is now on the little angled wall there.
After a break for food, I went back out to the garage and sanded the edges of the table base panels that I cut out on Saturday. I then decided to take a hole-saw to the front of the Jetta. I popped out the lower grill panel and cleaned it up. I then drilled out a 1-3/4" hole (running the bit backwards) and pressed and screwed in the new weatherproof socket. This will remove any dangling cords and keep it better protected once I get the new coolant heater installed. Now that the heater showed up I need to call for an appointment as I don't feel like digging around in there messing with coolant hoses. Hopefully next week sometime because after SuperCon this weekend it will be ready for an oil change as well, so they can do that too.
alyska got a ride home so I continued with my tinkering and attached the new plug to the oven in the garage. Haven't tried it yet, but now that I have the powder gun I should have a reason soon. Some puttering in the house and then dinner, and some more puttering. Before bed I un-clamped the table tops and they looked good, so I glued and clamped up the top for the cashier stand.
Tonight I should weld up the table legs for the side tables so I can do a test run for stability before I sandwich the top together and it becomes hard to move the captive T-nuts. If that goes well I should also weld up the earring racks that have been cut for a while.
Tomorrow I hope to setup the router with the flush trim bit and clean up the edges of the glued tops. I need to do all of the shaping on the maple edging for the tables too, now that I have the needed router bit.
