(no subject)
I guess it's been a long time since I updated. Let's see where to begin.
Construction work on the house is finally done. My window screen was the last item that needed to be done, and it finally came in. So eventually I'll take some pictures.
Classes started up at Wallace for the fall. I'm only taking one class again. This time around, I'm taking Software Support, which is supposed to prepare you for the A+ software exam. Yes, I know I'm already A+ certified, but I have to take this course as part of my major. In fact, this course even uses the same book I used in the last one I took at nvcc. So at least some of it is a review, but I'm so rusty I'm having to relearn a lot of this Windows stuff. I already took two of the quizzes, and I got a 92 on one and 104 on the other. It's too bad the quizzes aren't anything like they were last time I took the course. These quizzes are a lot more detailed and require more thinking. So that sucks, but I guess I will be able to get a decent grade in there.
Today I tried to update my other computer to Ubuntu Edgy, which is still alpha quality. In fact, I couldn't ever get it to work at all. Apparently a lot of other people are having problems with X and gnome as well, so I don't feel too bad about it. Later on once it becomes more stable I'll put some more effort into it. In late October they should be releasing it as the stable version, but since it isn't a major release I don't think I will run it on my main computer. Plus, Edgy is supposed to be... well... edgy, so there is a good chance some things won't work properly even in the final stable version. They are using it more for a starting point for new technology which will eventually make its way into another, later release.
