Well. Hmm. I wasn't blown away, because even though I enjoyed the flashbacks, I felt like they could have been edited *so* much better. I wanted Unfinished Business/KLG style editing of amazingness. The seeds were there - great parallels between the water of the fountain and the drip, the bird and the raptor, the bathubs of Sam - but I wanted more. I wanted montage!
I think I was a bit dissatisfied with the first half right up until the mission stuff started (btw, did they totally gloss over how exactly they got the coordinates?). Then it got to me. Laura got to me the most, because we'd just seen how wonderful she was before (although the car crash thing was a bit too melodramatic for my liking), and now she is so frail and close to death. And then I realised what the flashbacks were trying to do - trying to underline everyone's journey. Gaius has changed, no matter what Caprica believes. He was trying to do something for his people, and even if it meant gaining some power himself he has come a long way from the guy who rowed with his father and ordered women around like his personal property. Lee...hasn't really changed that much, because his family and Kara are still the most important things in his life. Sam has obviously changed because he's a hybrid!
Other notes:
- the sweeping shots of Cap City were goooooooooooorgeous.
-Julius Baltar's accent was so funny. That's not a Yorkshire accent in case you were wondering.
- Baltar came across so badly. I didn't really like that. I never thought of him as so harsh.
-I totally buy that Kara was all nice and polite with Lee at first. She wanted to be liked and accepted by his family, and I think that was very important to her.
-Chief's speech: a little heavy handed?
-Loved Sam's speech though.
-Wasn't the policeman who came to the door called Shaun? Is that where Laura recognised the name?
- Good music but somehow I wanted more.
- Why isn't Ellen giving tactical details about the Colony? She lived there for a while.
- Racetrack and Skulls ftw!
- I don't know where the hell this is going next week. Gawd. I'm going to cry.
