America's Roller Coast!

Well folks, I made it! I'm in the Ohizzo finally. I've been here for a week now, I've just been too lazy/tired to update. Really the work isn't so exhausting right now because we close at 8 and it's cold out so not like I'm sweating to death while I work. The only thing that got me this past week was being so daggum broke. I was on a $3 a day budget and boy that was fun. Mmhmm. I should keep that budget though, might encourage me to lose some weight.

ANYhow, getting up here was fun. Left NC around 7 am and had to fight my way on the "NC Speedway" aka I-40. After I conquered that battle it was pretty smooth sailing until I got to West Virginia where I forgot they had tolls and I was all out of money... But I scrounged up enough change in my car to pay my $4 to the state. Dern tolls. I was strivin to get here before 5 and I pulled into the CP parking lot at like 4:50, it was sweet. I got all processed in and moved in, my roomie is Erin, TL of MaXair, one of the newer rides. But she moved out the other day because I'm holding the room for 2 friends and she had a friend she wanted to live with. So yeah it was fun while it lasted.

So now about work.. I'm contracted for Top Thrill Dragster, the 420 foot coaster that hits 120 mph in under 4 seconds. Oh yeah, it's hard core. But when I got here they told me to go to Power Tower which is like Drop Zone at Carowinds except significantly bigger and it has 4 different towers: two that shoot you up and two that drop you down. So I worked there this weekend and it was fun times. I think I have a pic on my comp of Power Tower and Dragster in one shot so I'll dig that out for you guys. I thought I might be there permanently and who knows I might end up going back but this week they've had me at Dragster and I'm really lovin it. The crew is awesome and the guests are so excited about the ride that it's extra fun. Woot! I test rode my first day and said I'd never do it again cuz it's too scary all alone and in the front seat.. But I test rode again today cuz it was cold and rainy and no one wanted to do it lol. It's an awesome ride, when it's working. Yesterday we were down all day because the winds were too high. (50 mph, yowsa!) And today we were down first for mechanical and then for the rain. We finally opened up at 5:30 and stayed runnin pretty steady till 7 when it rained again but we were open by like a quarter till 8, 15 mins before the park closed lol.

Jen and Carl will be here soon, yay! I'm having a good time so far, just a few minor issues that are hopefully all worked out. Of course it's not always gonna be peachy but as long as the good outweighs the bad then I'll be a.o.k. I always have my folks at home to call when I need a shoulder to cry on. :) Despite getting no days off until Juneish, I've had a few occasions to ride rides with my pals and that was a blast. The park is so empty that we've walked on to practically every ride. The longest wait we had was 15 minutes for Millenium Force, the second (to mine! mwahaha) most popular coaster in the park. We could really put out some awesome numbers for my ride if we didn't have the teeniest seatbelts in the world and guests who don't understand that "no loose articles" means just that. "What, I can't take my stuffed animal, cotton candy, and scuba gear on the ride?? That's bull sh**!!" lol. Gotta love it.

From Magnum's lift last year:

Just so happen to catch Dragster with a train full of people stuck at the top (happens.. never.) and Power Tower in the foreground.
