Title: A Decolorized Rainbow [1/??]
Pairing: ---
Genre: Romance, Suspense
Rating: PG
Summary (of chapter): Yunho is about to propose to his girl of 2 years.

“I look forward to working with you, Mr. Simons.” Yunho shook Stanley Simons' hand firmly while Stanley just grinned back.

Yunho slammed the case file shut and placed it neatly atop the ‘S’ shelf, thinking about the amount of money he would make if the case was a success. Smirking, he leaned back on his squeaky black leather chair and placed both his legs on the desk, left over right.

It was the 26th of December 2008, the date that marked their 2nd year of dating. He took out the velvet box from his pocket and opened it up, to reveal a sparkling, beautiful ring that he worked so hard for. He closed his eyes, imagining her reaction later when she saw it.

Don’t say goodbye~

His phone rang as soon as he did. He groaned to himself, wondering who disturbed his wonderful dream.

“Hello, lawyer Yunho Jung here.” He answered in annoyance.

“Hey…”

Yunho quickly straightened his back and cleared his throat the moment he heard that sweet, soothing voice.

“Yeah, wassup babe?” Fingering the ring as he asked.

“I just called to say that I love you and that I can’t wait to meet you later,” and she hung up.

It was so like her, to be shy to hear him say that sentence back and he smiled at the fact that she has never changed and hope she will never change because that’s the girl he liked, no wait, loved.

The clock chimed 1830 hours and he placed the box back into his pocket. The leather chair squeaked as he stood up and tidied the creases on his jacket before grabbing his coat from the rack and slinging it casually over his shoulder.

He stepped out into the cold, dry air. It was snowing and all he could think about was how she would cry and hug him when she found out his secret.

“Hi, this is Yunho here. I was wondering if everything is set up already.”

“Yes, boss.”

“Okay, I don’t want any mistakes.”

---------------------

She walked down the staircase looking splendid, as usual. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail and showed off her beautiful forehead. Her ears sported a pair of earrings like dewdrops that shimmered under the warm lighting. The dress flowed languidly to just below her kneecaps with a high slit up that teased him so much and showed off her gorgeous shins. He sat there, staring into her eyes, trying to find that glint he knew so well, but he could not find it and he worried for her, afraid that something might have happened that day that she couldn’t tell him.

As if on cue, the lights were dimmed and Yunho, ever so gentlemanly, walked forward to escort her down the remaining steps and brought her to her seat. She was surprised, no doubt, but she seemingly knew what was coming next, worry written on her brow because she really did not want to break the truth to him.

Their exquisite meal was accompanied with soft, romantic violin serenades that he personally requested for - classics that she loved and that they always practiced to, her on the flutes, and him on the violin. Then, as they completed their main course, he stood up and a waiter passed him a violin that he so coolly placed on his shoulder.

“Jiyoon ah, this is for you, my beloved.” And he proceeded to play a piece that they were both familiar with - her all time favorite ballad: Don’t Say Goodbye. He played it so slickly, so full of emotions that she could feel tears filling up the lower lids of her eyes, wishing time would stop there and then. As the last note ended, he knelt on the floor, bringing the violin and bow down with him and brought the surprise out of his pocket.

“Jiyoon ah, will you,” he flipped the box open, “never say goodbye?”

This was it, he thought. With this, my life would be complete.

And just like how he imagined, like beads of pearls, her tears escaped and she knelt down to give him a hug, a hug that was longer than expected. They stayed there, in that awkward position for more than fifteen minutes.

She didn’t want to let go of this man, this man that she loved so much. She wanted time to stop. She wanted to protect him from the harsh reality.

He could feel her tears dripping onto his back. He could hear her breathing and sobbing. He wanted her to look him straight in the eye and tell him what was wrong.

Slowly, he pulled himself out of her embrace and firmly gripping her shoulder, he asked her, “I know there’s something wrong Jiyoon. Tell me.”

He released his left hand and wiped her stray tears away and tilted her head so she would be staring right at him.

She knew she couldn’t lie when he was giving her that stare, that gaze that she could not refuse.

“Yunho-sshi, I…”
