what's been up with me lately

yes I wrote YouTuber RPF not once but twice and also Harry Potter filk MOVING ON.

Have I told DW about the musical? I don't think I have. I'm writing a musical about fandom! Twitter sort of dubconned me into it--I was just being silly, coming up with song titles and hashtagging them #songsfromfandomthemusical, and then three or four people said I should write an actual musical, and I was like, "hah, who'd sing it if I did?" and like FIFTEEN people raised their virtual hands, and then
dear_monday agreed to help me out with the actual music part, so. That's happening. I've got a bit over half of the libretto written and the rest outlined in great detail, and there's going to be something like 18 songs. I'm kind of ping-ponging back and forth between "I don't know what the hell I'm doiiiiing" and "HOLY SHIT THIS IS GOING TO BE SO GREAT"; I hope the final product will fall toward the latter end of the spectrum, if only because the singers all seem so excited and I want them to have a good time with it.

I haven't been quite so active in hockey fandom recently for a couple of reasons, but I've still got WIPs I'm poking at, and there's
pod_together, and I'm still intermittently coming up with microfic. I'm still very much into actual hockey (that's actually one of the reasons I haven't been so active in the fandom) but of course there's not much going on there right now, so I'm mostly just posting vids to the void and whining to my hockey-blogger friends about the lack of hockey to watch. Olympics camps are happening soon, but they're not even stepping onto the ice because of insurance, so I don't know if there will be much of interest coming out of that.

And then there's YouTube. Just, like... okay, imagine I'm Kevin Sorbo yelling
greedy_dancer's name to the heavens, and that's about my take on this whole vlogger-fandom thing. I guess that's about how I felt with
crazybutsound and bandom at first, but this isn't even a real fandom! *hands* I gotta say, though, it's really nice writing RPF without having to fight off mental images of the potential disastrous consequences of the people it's about finding it. Because YouTubers already know! Half of them have done videos acting it out! Which is slightly uncomfortable, okay, but there's not that "oh god what if they're homophobic and they freak out and I singlehandedly set an entire social rights movement back a decade" lingering in the back of my head. *side-eyes hockey fandom*

(Yes, I do know that's a severe overreaction and obviously will not happen. Doesn't stop me stressing about it.)

So yes, I'm resisting with most of my might, but I've produced two fics already, so clearly I have a tiny bit of a problem.

The boything is out of town for a week, and V is pretty much unable to get to the internet for a while, so I'm feeling very... solitary. Not lonely, those aren't the only people I interact with, but they're the main ones (in meatspace and cyberspace respectively), so not having them around has been very different. I might go to a coffeehouse and work on the musical later this evening. After I'm done rereading "Indecorous" again. The "Rooney's conduct was reprehensible" line kills me every time.

I've seen some people making an effort to do Dreamwidth the way we all used to do fandom, more long-form chattiness. I'm down. What's up with you guys?
