This is supposed to be a post-one-a-day meme, but I don't like spamming, so I'm consolidating.
A fic with a great opening: Born to Motorbabies (bandom, Killjoys!verse)
Frank's sleeping in the dishwasher again.

A favorite new fic (posted in the last few weeks): Wrock Band (bandom)
There’s some in-between stuff, of course. Stuff that mainly involves a lot of Frank saying things like, “What the fuck is wrock-with-a-w?” and “Seriously? Like. A Harry Potter tribute band?” and “No, seriously?” and Gerard talking very earnestly and at great length about J.K. Rowling’s message and how they can really speak to the kids this way and how there isn’t enough magic in rock and roll anymore.
A long-standing favorite fic: A Thousand Beautiful Things (Harry Potter)
Probably my all-time favorite Harry Potter fic. It uses the same idea that JKR did in "Deathly Hallows" of using Polyjuice Potion to turn a bunch of people into Harry and putting them on broomsticks to fight Death Eaters... except it did it three years earlier and far better than canon.
A fic that you wish more people would read: Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (Harry Potter)
This fic is glorious and everyone should read it. It's by Eliezer Yudkowsky, a researcher in artificial intelligence and eloquent proponent of rationality, and it does a beautiful job of using the world of Harry Potter to convey all sorts of scientific concepts.
A fic you weren't sure you'd like but ended up loving: Riddles of the Dead (Harry Potter/Indiana Jones crossover)
"Muggle London?" Jones asked, glancing at Tom. "Is that near Soho?"
A guilty pleasure fic: Good Hands (Hikaru no Go)
Kuwabara/Akari. Kuwabara/Akari. So hot and SO WRONG.
A fic with a wonderful kiss: Let You Kiss Me (So Sweet and So Soft) (Sherlock)
John keeps his eyes open, as does Sherlock, and mostly he wonders what Sherlock could possibly be up to. There'll be some logic to this. Some ridiculous experiment about body warmth or respiratory rates or testing a new way of picking pockets.
A fic you plan on reading (old or new): The Fall and Rise of the Black Parade (bandom, Black Parade AU)
I keep seeing this recced everywhere and thinking I'll read it at some point, but it's so long that I haven't yet.
A fic that makes you happy: Family (The Princess Bride)
"Here," Fezzik said as he thrust something underneath Westley's nose. "Eat."
Westley stared at it and changed his mind. This was bad. It looked remarkably like a bowl of slugs.
"It's a bowl of slugs," Fezzik confirmed.
A fic that reminds you of someone: Only You Can Save Mankind: A Young Girl's Story of Sex at the Cost of a Fruitcake (Harry Potter)
Reminds me of Ava, obvs. :( But she wouldn't want to be remembered with sadfaces, she would want me to reread and giggle. So I do that.
A fic that changed your perceptions of the characters: Skybird (White Collar/Inception crossover)
This is a fantastic insight into Neil Caffrey's psyche, and to a lesser extent into the characters of Eames and Arthur. Really, if you're at all familiar with these two fandoms, you should read this.
A fic with excellent banter: For Ant of a Nail (Xena)
I've never even seen any Xena, but hilarious nerdy linguistics fic makes me happy.
A fic you liked when you were younger: Parseltongue-tied (Harry Potter)
Eh. My standards used to be a lot less rigorous than they are now. This isn't terrible, but it's not as brilliant as I thought it was when I was fourteen.
A fic that breaks your heart: Silvertongue (Harry Potter)
The boys are sharing candyfloss and the pale one is clutching a teddy bear almost as large as himself. She'd place them at twelve, maybe thirteen, though her eyes are so old she can't see much but the deathgrip they've each got on the other's hand
(death, yes death, that's what it will all come to)
and the grins on their faces.
A fic you've read more than 5 times: Jeeves and the Literary Pursuits (Jeeves & Wooster)
“You do always seem to know the outcome of events. I suppose that’s what you’d do, isn’t it? You’d skip about in that machine seeing what will happen and then advise all and sundry and seem terribly clever.”
The left corner of his mouth lifted nearly a full quarter inch. “Perhaps, sir,” he said, “I am already in the habit of doing so.”
A fic people wouldn’t expect you to like: All the Girls Out On the Stoop (Hawaii 5-0/Harry Potter)
Danny is part Veela, and Steve is his mate. Except it's good. Really.
A fic that holds a lot of meaning to you: Night Games (LotR RPS)
This is the fic thirteen-year-old me was reading the day my mom said, "Hey, what are you looking at? Give me that laptop." It really was not good enough to be worth the ~3 years of unpleasant fallout that resulted from her discovering my interest in slash, but I can't help remaining a little fond of it.
A remix fic you like: Baby, My Heart's Ticking Only For You (Do Androids Dream Remix) (bandom)
I love the original fic, and I love this remix.
A fic that makes you laugh: Tsumego (Hikaru no Go)
His friendly-rivalry relationship with Touya Akira is black and the revelation of his romantic feelings are white. Black obviously needs to find a way to live in this situation. Fortunately, he thinks, it's an easy life-or-death problem. All he needs to do is make enough eyes -- wiggle room, as it were -- and there's no way for the revelation to overwhelm their relationship!
A fic by one of your favorite authors: Waiting On (Inception)
I love pretty much everything The Hoyden has ever written. Most of the best Hikaru no Go fics are by her, and she's basically the reason I'm in Inception fandom at all.
A fic currently stuck in your head: Run (bandom)
I skipped over the werewolf AUs when I first got into bandom, but I've been kind of digging them lately, and this one in particular has stuck with me.

One of the first fanfics you read: Irresistible Poison (Harry Potter)
I got into slash originally through ff.net when I was twelve, and I had basically no idea what quality was. Rhysenn's fic was the first halfway decent fic I read. (I refuse to link the first slash fic I ever read. It was Harry/Draco, and it was called "Darkness or Light What is Your Choice." I'm sure it's googleable if you want to find it, but trust me, you don't.)
A fic you wish you'd never read: Black Is The Colour (Harry Potter/LotR)
The King of the Nazgul spat ectoplasm on the floor. "No wizzzzard can withssstand the full force of the Nine."
He meant inches, Severus surmised as the black chain-mail-covered trousers before him were opened.
A fic with a great OC: Anatomy of a Fall (bandom)
I actually wish the author of this would do a find-replace on the names and publish it. It's not a bandom fic, it's a gorgeous novel-length original story with bandom characters plopped in, and it deserves to be read more widely.
A fic that spawned an inside joke: In the Sidelines (bandom)
I call PATD "Mayhem! At The Hoedown" sometimes because of this fic. :P
A fic with a pairing you never thought you'd read: a critique of pure reason (Jossverse/LotR RPS)
Xander Harris/Dominic Monaghan. Need I really say more?
A fic that turns you on: Pull Your Tangles Out (bandom)
Spencer’s brain is kind of blank and cloudy with lust until a low, pained sounding groan from Brendon snaps him out of it, and he types, “Do you want to finish?”
It takes all of five seconds before he gets Brendon’s response, “y.”
Spencer waits, not quite sure what he's waiting for until his phone vibrates against his chest with the text he didn't know he wanted. “plz can i?”

Gabe looks at him. "You want us to drug this guy, kidnap him, and let you into his head."
Pete's face is carefully blank and he gives a tiny shrug. "Yes."
"That is extremely fucking creepy."
