I don't even know where to start. Ok, so you know how I squeed and flailed at you about this fic while you were writing? And the fixing-with-glue thing has been haunting me for months? Well, ALL THE STUFF I TOLD YOU STILL STANDS (<333), but now that I'm freaking the fuck out over my own paper, I predict I will reread this another dozen times in the following months. God, academia, how so stressful? >.< Alicia and Amanda's solution is clearly the way to go.

So clever and all the characters are obviously super smart and aware of their choices. I loved the small insights we get into Mikey as a character, no matter how much he doesn't want to be one. I loved him liking it for being functional, for having a purpose for someone else.

Well, damn.

That's - pretty much all I'm currently capable of. I also said it out loud. I mean, my mind is a whirl of points and thoughts and details - seriously, I have feelings about this kink. Obviously positive ones, and a strange sort of disassociation that I've never really quite got my head around so far, but I really, really enjoyed this. It was so complex and interesting, but what I really liked - what was possibly my favourite part - was that the difficult stuff, the complexities, they didn't revolve around having Mikey at all. That, at it's bare bones, was pretty simple, compared to Amanda's research (fascinating, by the way, and definitely something I could see AFP herself being into).

I promise that if I ever do get my head sorted out about this, I'll let you know. But it is definitely something unique, and something I really enjoyed. :D (Also, do I detect Coin Operated Boy lyrics?)

I'm glad to have gotten you thinking! Writing this fic definitely stirred up some new thoughts for me. If you figure out anything else you'd like to say about it, I'd be excited to hear more. I'm happy to hear that you liked the research, too--I spent a lot of time working on it.

The Coin-Operated Boy thing was actually entirely accidental. This fic was originally conceived as Mikey/Pete, with Gabe in Alicia's role. I came back to the idea when I started thinking about what to do for bandgirlsbang, and I'd always wanted to write Amanda/Mikey just so I could list the pairing as Amanda Fucking Palmer/Mikey Fuckin' Way. It was only after I decided to write this that I realized how well it fit with that song. I thought about using lyrics from it for the title, but that seemed too obvious, despite the fact that the parallels were unintentional. XD
