Last night officially marked my first all-nighter of med school. I went over to Meredith's after church yesterday and basically hung out there studying with her and some of our other friends until about half an hour before the test this morning. We're both severely overcaffeinated and sleep-deprived right now, but we made it.
(As a side note, Meredith is awesome, and has a super cool blog
over here that you should all check out.)
This class is absolutely brutal- I definitely underestimated the sheer volume of material we'd have to deal with here, and from talking to others, that seems to be a common trend. I felt okay about the test- there was some material I just wasn't that familiar with, but I'm pretty sure I passed- but I know things need to change. I need to be better about staying on top of things, and just dedicating at least three hours a night to this material, as awful as that sounds.
Of course, the second years are always there to remind us that it just gets worse from here. *sigh* Why am I doing this again?
[[Insert long list of very good reasons here]]
I've been on hiatus at
xi_rpg for the last three weeks. Only the first one was planned. I'm going to try to pick it back up, but it may well be that RP is just not something that fits into my life anymore. We'll see.
In other news, they decided that this afternoon was a great time to teach us all how to do venipuncture on each other. Because hey, who doesn't want a bunch of exhausted, brain-dead caffeine junkies practicing drawing blood for the first time on their arm? Fortunately, I did pretty well, and Emilia didn't completely screw up mine. Good stuff.
