Horse Drama
Some drama at riding lessons tonight. I got there and found out my favorite lesson horse Dan (and Ryan) were gone. When I asked my instructor about it she said the owner took them back yesterday after accusing her of being a poor caretaker after more than 10 years there. I’m told there were tears and it was very emotional so I didn’t ask for further details but I know this isn’t true. Dan was well loved by everyone at the stable because he had such attitude (especially when it was treat time). He was the largest lesson horse there so riders of all sizes (and abilities) could learn on him. Because of his size we pretty much only used him for trot since he covered so much ground at the canter and needed so much room to corner the lesson ring was a little tight for him. If I was having a “Bad Brain” day I would contact my instructor ahead of time and request him specifically because he was so easy. I know he (or any of the horses) are not neglected or mistreated in any way. I know there is a lot of drama in the horse world (I’ve heard plenty of stories) and I’m sorry it cost us one of our best lesson horses.
