Some more recently seen movies...
Blade Runner 2049-Loved it. A great sequel worthy successor to the first. Slow at times but so was the first. Great visuals and the performances were great across the board. I can’t say enough good things about how all the actors crushed it. My only complaint is I would have liked more ground/street level scenes like in the first one. Makes the world seem more lived in and crowded. Lots of nostalgia, but not overdone. Like the original there are still questions to be answered (and debated by fans) but nothing that is left hanging for the story.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle-Entertaining, especially for me since a lot of the movie revolves around the Kingsmen’s American cousins “The Statesmen” who are based in Kentucky and run a bourbon distillery as their cover and source of income. It’s interesting that the movie makers seem to think Kentucky and Texas are next door to each other with all the western wear the Statesmen sport. Good action but not as creative as the first. I got distracted by the plot and moral implications of the drug trade, addiction and legalization and wasn’t able to shut my brain off to enjoy this as I should.
IT-Never read the book or seen the previous TV movie. Saw this with my Stephen King Fan friend and we both really liked it. Creepy and some horror but not a lot of gore which I appreciated. In a lot of ways a coming of age story as this group of misfit kids bonds and form friendships and unite to take down the town horror when no one will believe them. I think this is why the movie has been doing so well. There’s a good story and it has a lot of heart.
