Update on me
So because my job is going so well, I love my family, and really I have nothing to complain about, I'll do a post on what is on my mind right now.
I just read an article about how Daisuke Matsuzaka is sucking out royal this year (which I agree with). The Red Sox are 1-5 in starts with Dice-K on the mound this year, his ERA is 7.33. THAT isn't what's on my mind, it was the author of this article saying that David Ortiz's career is over and that Red Sox Nation may finally be coming to terms with it.
Numbers: Ortiz in 51 games and 198 At Bats this year is batting .197 (up from .180 before the Texas series this weekend) 2 Home Runs, 22 RBIs, OBP .288 and Slugging .308. These numbers are down right awful for a slugger being paid what he's being paid right now.
Number Crunch Time! The Red Sox have played 57 games so far this year, so for the sake of approximation, let's consider the season 40% over and then let's say, by some miracle, Ortiz finishes the rest of this year with comparable to his 2007 season in which he did well, but was fantastickly amazing.
Ortiz would finish out this season having played in 140 games having 148 hits in 527 At Bats turning out batting .281, 23 Home Runs, 92 RBIs, OBP .368 and Slugging .501. So, really the numbers kinda look like they did for him last year when he was plagued by the knee injury and sat out 1/3 of the season.
I want to be optimistic and see Big Papi come back from this dreadful slump he's in and the Home Run he hit the other night gives me hope, but as I told Adam the other night, really, he's going to need a 50 game hitting streak and a stroke of amazing luck to pull out of this and NOT have the Red Sox organization deal him or just release him.
