(no subject)
I'm getting ready to surprise the SHIT out of Sean. He doesn't know I have friday off, so I'm going to drive to Alabama and knock on his door and be like, HEY!! Then I can be there for his graduation from ASBC too. I missed his graduation and commissioning, and he missed my wing ceremony. And ASBC isn't anywhere in the galaxy of importance that those things are, but at least we'll be together at some ceremony where one of us is being honored. Come to think of it he was at my commissioning, which was wonderful. He subsequently drove us to the bar, and then picked us up after we got SMASHED and took care of me the next day too. That was a neat night. I can't drink like that anymore, I've found. I've got a backwards tolerance. Were I to drink that much now, I would pass out way early in the night and then be sick all the next day. Perhaps God's way of keeping me out of trouble. I hate hangovers, so I don't drink a lot unless the occasion warrants it.
I started my first day of C-130 training today, which was cool. Not much, just the general book issue, here's the building, these are what your simulators look like. Study hard and don't be a dumb ass, etc. The LRS squadron on base keeps having DUI's, among other squadrons of course. I don't understand, but oh well. It's just more motivation for me not to drink and drive!
I'm living in a sweet three bedroom house on base, with the backyard right on the base's lake. I heart it so far. I'm going to buy a t.v. this weekend after I see the Labor day sales. I've been saving for a while to get a nice big one - 32" should do it. And if I work it just right, could also include a couch! Man adulthood is expensive. But after that, I pretty much have the whole "household goods" thing down. Then I can wait until I get married and have kids before I have to buy more. And then it won't matter because the kids will probably just destroy it anyway.
I have a new roommate, also named Sam, who is pretty cool. We were in Nav training together - she's only here 'till Feb. though. She has classic rock taste and a yaris. Updates to come.
Now I have to go brush my teeth because I have to be up early tomorrow and not fall asleep in class.
