Mad Sick stupid McNasty...

....it was amazing....about 500x better than the other two prequels put together.

I'm gonna write in here without giving away any spoilers about the plot or anything (unless if it was obvious) for anyone who hasn't seen it yet and would rather not be told everything.

Anyway, it really was great. The acting in it was much better, especially by Hayden Christiansen and Ewan McGregor. There was actual chemistry between the two, and it made the final confrontation at the end so much better. This movie was by far the most emotional of the 6, even more so that Empire.

Padme's part was kept to a minimum, which is a good thing. The love scenes were much better here (still not saying much), and they were very few in number so they didn't detract from the movie as a whole. What was said needed to be said.....nothing more, nothing less.

Some of Lucas' scriptwriting was perfect and fit the mood and scene perfectly. Obi-Wan's last line to Anakin was powerful and really fit in well, for example. A few lines, however, were terrible and a few people actually laughed out loud at them. I'll let you discover them on your own, though ;)

The action was much more Star Warsy in RotS than the previous two. The battle in the beginning of this movie was much better directed than the battle over Naboo or the battle of Geonosis. I don't actually know why, but it was just more enjoyable to watch. The lightsaber fights were some of the best, bar none. I won't spoil any of the ones you may not know about for you, but everyone knows that Anakin vs. Obi-Wan has been in the making for 28 years know. and it really delivers-it's possibly the best one-on-one fight scene I've ever seen. and it's powerful.

The music in the movie was especially good, with John Williams making an overall great score (which wasn't necessarially the case in Ep I or II). A lot of old themes were revisited and worked in beautifully, from Leia's theme to the Imperial March. The best new piece was "Battle of the Heroes", the theme of Episode III (like "Duel of the Fates" was to Ep I), and it was great. It played in the background of the Obi-Wan/Anakin fight and really enhanced the action and emotions to a maximum. I've been listeneing to the soundtrack even before the movie was released, but I never thought the songs would go as well with the on-screen action as they did.

All in all, here's my chart for what I believe are the Star Wars movies ranked in order of how good the movie was on the whole, with everything considered:

1. Empire Strikes Back (possibly the best fantasy movie ever made-not much of a was that anything could top this in terms of overall emotions, musical score, acting, dialogue, etc.)
Rating: * * * * +

2. A New Hope (the original masterpiece that started it all-just lower than ESB because it lacks the dark tone and overall emotional punch)
Rating: * * * *

3. Revenge of the Sith (see above-some flaws, but great overall)
Rating: * * * 1/2

4. Return of the Jedi (RotJ is possible my favorite movie because of what it does to the Expanded Universe, because the final space battle is so damn cool, and because Vader redeems himself. However, the movie a whole was overall not as good as the other two in the original trilogy for reasons that I don't think I can really explain. Still a great movie, though.)
Rating: * * *

5. Attack of the Clones (originally, this was my least favorite, but RotS makes some things in this movie that I thought were useless and a waste actually necessary. And Yoda lightsaber fights. The acting still could've been done better by cardboard cutouts, though)
Rating: * *

6. Phantom Menace (Episode I was just the biggest letdown of the bunch. The hype was already too high for any movie to actually reach it, and it didn't help that the movie itself was a dud. Too kiddie oriented overall. and then there was Jar Jar. blech.)
Rating: * 1/2

Anyway, lets try something: how about after everyone sees Episode III, they post a comment ranking the movies in their own order. just an idea
