Big Shopping Day 4 Summer

Today I purchased a ridiculous amount of stuff. This is all due to the fact that gas is so expensive, and so are vehicles when you lack them. Right. So I bused out to the two competing art supply stores in West Los Angeles, Dick Blick's and Utretcht's. I walked back and forth between them a couple of times and managed to figure out which places would be cheaper. Dick Blick's was consistently overpriced, but had a 10% discount for students and a better selection. Utretcht's was friendlier and cheaper but had very little for me to go on. Both stores thought it would be perfectly fair to charge me $15 for a paint roller. After picking out paint and blades I took the bus to what I thought would be Ace Hardware.

It turns out that Busy Bee Hardware sells Ace Hardware stuff but does not do the whole logo thing. The bus I was riding blew past it six blocks (while I was zoned out in a flashback, but I still would have noticed it if it had said Ace!), so I had to walk six blocks back. They were almost closing, but they helped me out. They sold me copious amounts of duct tape and a $4 paint roller. And, the friendly guy even gave me a cut of PVC and a flange for the base of Operation: Mannequin Minna.

Shane picked me up from Busy Bee and dropped me off at Sear's to purchase an iron and a cutting board/rotary blade. I then walked six blocks or so over to Joann's Fabrics, where I purchased the materials for: a red/black chiffon skirt, the blue Padme dress, a Jedi Robe, and my mom's mother's day present, along with other assorted sewing machine things.

Shane came to get me a few hours later and we went to Famima! where we purchased assorted japanese goodies, including the famous yakitate japan MELON! bread and some ramune. There, I read an article on the Secrets of Autism (*dun dun dun drama*...although the online version is missing a really nice map of the brain showing the where autism and asperger's affect the brain) Then we went to Yashima, a Japanese restaurant, and I had a Katsu Bento. The salad had wasabi dressing (ew) and I wanted to call Jeremy and tell him how much I appreciated him for putting up with the wasabi I was training myself to eat for Ken's wedding last year, considering it was painful for him just to sit next to it.

But yeah, major shopping day, assorted purchases include gigantic self healing mat, pvc pipe, jedi robe patterns, etc.
