My ten-year-old nephew Brian was the only student to recently ace a school-wide math quiz, and it's brought him to the attention of a university! I'm one mighty proud uncle. One thing's for sure: he did NOT get his math smarts from me! It was my worst subject, ever.

Today would have been my grandmother's 82nd birthday. Lord how I miss that woman.

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! It seemed to go by awfully fast here. But isn't that how it always is with the holidays? Mom and I got the house decorated for Christmas over the weekend, and we're actually far ahead of ourselves (for once) with the gift buying. Many thanks for all the warm wishes for my niece! She got through surgery fine, and was a real trouper. She's doing so well, in fact, that the doctor let her go home this afternoon. He thought she'd do much better resting at home. I still can't believe she was released from the hospital so quickly!

My niece Jazlynn had a terrible accident at school today. She fell from the monkey bars and shattered her wrist and broke her arm. She's going into surgery tonight to have 6 pins put in. Could you all please keep her in your thoughts and prayers? Many thanks!

My uncle passed away this evening. He was not doing well at all, even though he was moved to a hospice from Waycross to here in Valdosta. It was actually a blessing he went as quickly as he did because he was in a lot of pain and was only getting worse. My sister and her family will be here this weekend, and we're having the funeral Saturday.

We received some upsetting news this morning: Mom's younger brother is in intensive care, and it looks as if he might have pancreatic cancer. He's scheduled to go into surgery later today, and I just wanted to give you all the heads up.

Mama finally saw a therapist this afternoon, and he confirmed that she has cervical strain in her neck, as well as disc trouble. She'll start therapy next week. Thanks to everyone for their warm thoughts and concern. Hopefully she'll be able to feel better soon.
