In a desperate move to escape boredom, we got tickets to Marie Antoinette at The Majestic. Bad idea. It was possibly the least entertaining movie I have ever seen. I can still respect the work that went into the costumes, sets, and cinematography. However, none of the actors gave memorable performances, thus failing to resonate with me on an emotional level. Maybe I am a little rusty, but I thought that there was something called "dramatic structure." Well, I did doze off a couple times, so maybe I missed the climax. I fall asleep watching DVDs all the time, but I've never done that in a theater before.
While some argue that Kirsten Dunst's semi-nudity was enough to keep your eyes glued to the screen, you shouldn't have to pay $7 for it...that's what the internet is for! ;)
I probably shouldn't be so critical, since I'm taking a film analysis course. I need to keep myself open-minded and aware of technical/artistic aspects. I was just looking to unwind tonight, I wasn't too interested in deconstructing the film, frame-by-frame.
Even though people have told me Children of Men was lacking in the plot department, I still think it would have been the better choice.
