TVD: 4x22 reaction post
So I did get to TVD tonight and...it was okay.
I’m not sure I have a ton of thoughts though. I feel like I should but I really don’t.
-Okay, Lexi has spent the last three seasons steadily going down and down and down in my estimation and then suddenly here I like her again. Probably for the first time since her initial appearance she actually seems like a friend rather than Stefan’s sadistic savior. This is the Lexi I can believe just went to Bon Jovi concerts and liked to hang out with her friend on his birthday.
-Alaric, I am disappointed in you for not talking with Elena. You did have more connections on this show than to Damon.
-I know Esther told us last year that Jenna wasn’t on the Other Side, but I was still mostly hoping Jenna would be there and we could have a good chunk of the family back together.
-I...imagine Kol has done some pretty depraved things being able to spy on people from the Other Side. Sure it would get old pretty fast, but Kol’s capacity for depravity makes anything possible.
-Also, please to be keeping Kol around after this, I need more Kol in this world.
-The Jeremy and Elena stuff breaks my heart. I’m seldom one to object to blatant emotional manipulation and I don’t here, but I do know it’s going on.
-For a couple brief shining moments Elena got to hurt the Salvatores back and it was AWESOME. Why does Elena not get to stab them and slap them all the time? More of this and less her apologizing to them when they never apologize to her.
Current prediction time:
-I see two possible outcomes for the cure at this point, either it’s used in some way to help bring Bonnie back OR it “disappears” early in the next episode and we find out at the end that Jeremy set it up so Elena would take it (somehow I see it being something done by Jeremy rather than the Salvatores, but maybe that’s just because I want it but I don’t want those assholes to be the ones making any more choices for Elena)
-I’m not sure yet how many of the back from the dead people are going to make it through the finale. Something will be done to send most of them back probably, but it will be left open ended that some remain on the side of the veil. And that’s about how I’ve been predicting this will go down for a while; that we won’t really know until later who slipped through while the veil was down (they need wiggle room for Mikael to return for The Originals after all).
-While I suspect Alaric won’t be one of those who sticks around, I really want to see him spend next time with Jeremy and Elena. As much as I like Alaric and Damon’s friendship, I want more of the heartbreak of Elena with dead family members.
-Please god let this year end the way I said last year should have, with Elena telling the Salvatores to stay away from her and leaving Mystic Falls in the dust. I’m not giving this high odds of happening, but it’s really the only obvious thing to do (maybe Rebekah can ride with her a far as New Orleans...of course I’d like Elena to stick around there too, but I’m not going to be hugely picky if Elena’s arc does what it should have done ages ago).
(Oh right, after thought. Show, this was not the best use of your Katherine time, I basically forgot she was even in the episode.)
