I read a decent amount over there, but decided to post about it here I guess.

(I don't consider information about a series I don't plan to watch to be spoilers)

I think that's basically what I was going on. It;s kind of like I sometimes read things about Smallville still even though I stopped watching it like three years agi. Maybe one day I'll watch it, but I don't consider it spoiling myself.

1. Boys are perfectly capable of identifying with female heroes, as evidenced by the childhood friends who have since gone on to become straight adult males wanting to be Leela;

2. Little boys shouldn't be wanting little girls to be anything, you (Moffat) dirty old skeeve.

Only Moffat could think boys couldn't think girls could be heroes too. There's a difference between saying that boys will like the character as much as girls (which if it were say RTD I'd be able to hope he meant) and saying that the character will become the standard boys measure girls by. Especially when really, what have they determined about the character besides the actress playing her?

3. Moffat is yet one more step down the road to total hypocrisy (re: everything he's said in the past about How Things Would Be If He Were In Charge).

I remember that part of your talk. Yeah, Moffat can talk a big game about shaking things up and doing things oh so different, but he's got to know that RTD's formula has *worked.* Except being Moffat he has no idea why it has or how to do it as well himself.

4. I'm torn between 51st Century Princess, Young River Song, and 21st century sweater-folder at Top Shop as to what the character is more likely to be.

All of which seem like they could happen. ANy way it's done though it's going to be all about Moffat making her perfect and flawless and expendable.
