some film reccs and some

hey guys! i am so sorry i've been absent, i've been holidaying in japan (as you do, when you have relatives there) and i just got back (: idk if anyone will be reading this, but yeah. just a heads up. i'm planning on posting up pictures next time i post, and maybe with an update of my last year of schooling! i can't believe that i'll be graduating this year. surreal. (:

in japan all i did, pretty much, was freeze, go karaoke, go to school and go on a huge kimutaku watching marathon and the like (: i'll post properly about japan once i get settled and etc. i did laugh really hard at yamapi's solo album cover, though. all that blue and pink! adorable. (:

anyway. since my last post, i've watched BANDAGE and kokukaku, and i have to say that i enjoyed both of them so much. both were depressing, actually, but they had stunning cinematography and everything was well acted. both films surprised me, actually.

BANDAGE is about an indies band which rose to fame in the band boom of japan in the 90s? 80s? something like that. anyway it's pretty much about the relationship between the lead singer of the band natsu and asako, a girl who eventually becomes 'sucked into their world' etc. kind of a basic storyline, but i really enjoyed it. jin was actually pretty good, tbh, but personally i felt like he was playing himself, but it worked really well, and i adored it (: kitano kii, who i find really adorable, was asako. i felt like she didn't do great in some parts and so in turn i didn't understand why she reacted the way she did in some scenes and etc. but in others (especially the beach scene!) she was really good. the cinematography was actually seriously stunning. i adore handheld camera shots, so i pretty much spent the whole movie cooing to myself. the beach scene and the last shots of the film was stunning, and i loved the parts when LANDS performed. and i cried loads, but that doesn't count because i'm always an emotional wreck. haha.

kokuhaku was seriously disturbing. i was a definite emotional zombie after it, haha. i'm a bit weak like that. it was stunning, though, i really enjoyed it. it starts off which a teacher in homeroom, talking about her retirement, but then her story descends into something darker, where she states that her daughter was killed by two students in her class. she then enacts her own form of revenge against the two, which triggers some memorable and shocking events. the story was pretty much driven by the confessions of each person involved and the acting was so brilliant, i was really stunned. what was good was that it wasn't a whodunnit, it is clear who murdered her child, and as the story unraveled the characters quickly unravel too. it was more of a study in character than anything else. here's the trailer for anyone who wants to watch it- it's a gorgeous, psychological triller and afjalsfjasl i can't. it was so good (:

anyway. yes! tell me how you've been? i'll make sure i check your journals tomorrow! for now, i have my first day of school to get through and i'm still quite possibly jetlagged. life is good ♥

movies movies movies!, a;djflgdkglagha;hga;, clearly i am insane
