Ok do you remember that disclaimer from before? Well it still applies...try to remember it. lol
All right well after Anoop came the man who slowly snuck up on me as one of my faves.
Matty G!!!!!
Ok that was the best picture Sheri or I could get of Matt's opening piece. It was moving way too fast to get a good pic of it. It got so loud in there when they saw his picture. Even the snotty girls next to us were cheering for him. At least they liked him and Anoop!
Matt just killed it! His first song was "Hard To Handle" and it was so energetic. He was bouncing around stage and singing his heart out. He sounded so amazing and he really had the crowd going. And yes...the pants were very, very nice. lol
Here is some evidence of that.
Next he sat down at the piano and put on his famous hat. He said he brought it out for his fans. He even had a towel to wipe his forehead with which was so cool and it also reminded me once again of Chikezie from last year. Can you tell how much I miss last year's Idols? lol Matt played "Georgia on My Mind" and "You Found Me" which was so much better than on the show. I think it was because he wasn't in the pit of death. lol
Overall Matt seemed to love what he is doing so much and he truly deserves to have a career in music. Someone needs to sign that boy ASAP!!!! More evidence of his awesomeness!
Next was the group medley which I have to honestly say was better than last year's. This year had more songs and awesome dance moves. Although last season was my favorite group which better voices this year's medley was cooler. I loved that they were all dressed in black and of coure the guys looked hot in suits. I didn't know all of the songs and Lil and Megan should never, ever sing together EVER! But it was just really cool to see them doing the dancing. Oh yeah...Matt and Anoop were front and center. lol
Intermission was a welcome thing because we needed to sit for a bit. Once again they started showing the idol videos which was cool. It gave us something to watch while we waited. One video in particular was a very nice thing to watch.
I managed to get the shot of my favorite part!!!!
Yes, that is Allison. The only girl really worth mentioning in the top 10. Don't get me started about all the girls in the top 36 who should have been in the top 10 instead of Lil and Megan. lol
Ok...rant over now onto the awesomeness that is Allison Iraheta. She is a rockstar!!The whole show just seemed like warm acts for her major rock show. She sang "So What" first and it was great. Her voice is so smokey and cool. I loved her outfit and hair too. She has just got it all going on. lol In my honest opinion she deserved to be in the top 3 instead of someone else. Out of my respect for Sheri I will not say who. lol
Allison also sang "Cry Baby" and "Barracuda". Barracuda was my favorite and when she left the stage I was sad. I could have listened to her sing another 20 songs.
Danny
Let me just say that my like of Danny went back and forth over the course of the show. I liked him at first, but then all the constant praise on the show for lackluster performances began to grate on me. i didn't like his attitude and his song choices. Sure he had his moments, but let's just say he was not one of my faves by the time he got voted off. Actually I cheered when he got sent home. (Sorry Danny fans)
But with all of that said his performances were really good. First he sang "PYT" which was my fave performance of his from the show. He got the crowd singing and dancing right along with him. He is not a good dancer though. lol Next he sang "Maria Maria". It was good, but once again the dancing was not. Then he sang two country songs "What Hurts The Most" and "My Wish" which I think were indications of what kind of album he is going to make if he gets signed. He also talked ALOT!!! It reminded me alot of Syesha from last year. Is it in their contract or something that 3rd place finishers have to talk so much or something? lol
Gun Show!!!
Ok, let me be honest here. We all know who performed after Danny. We all know I do not like him. I am not an idiot. I know alot of people do like him so as not to offend anyone let me just post the one pic I took of him and move on. How does that sound? Good? All righty!
Now let me just take a deep breath and calm myself down as I remember the awesomeness that is the winner of the 8th season of American Idol. Ok....here we go!
KRISALLENOMGHEISSOOOAWESOME....ok I promised I would calm myself down. lol But yes Kris was awesome. He started with "Heartless" which is my second favorite song from the show. He played the guitar liked always. He sang it differently and it was better than the show...if it could be any better. lol There is just something about him that exudes folky coolness that just wins me over. I love that he plays guitar and that he's so humble and sweet. He is so different than any other winner of Idol and I love him for that.
Next he sang "All These Things That I've Done". Much much much better than having to listening to the craptastic winning song. I love that he chose the Killers. It just shows what an amazing artist he is by the songs he chooses to sing. He has such an eclectic taste that will surely make for an amazing album!
Then he went to the piano to sing "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Bright Lights". I didn't know "Bright Lights", but it was good. Did I mention that I love that he plays instruments? Because I do!
Then for his last song he sang one of my favorite Beatles songs "Hey Jude". His voice was perfect for that song and the best part was that he didn't have to be overpowering to hold the attention of the arena. He can be himself and sing his heart out while still being the soft folk singer that he is. I love it! Also all the other idols joined him on stage to sing it too. I don't think they have ever done that before. I may be wrong though. I found it a fitting touch to the end of his set.
Lastly was the final group number. It could not be better than last year's final number, but it was still good. I love "Don't Stop Believing" and they all sang really well. I also love that Matt got to play the piano again and that I got a little Manoop dance too. Just a little one and it could never be as epic as Mavid. Here are some pics.
All righty that is the end of my review. it was a great show and I am sorry if I offended anyone with my comments. Everyone has their favorites and I know that alot of people's favorite is not mine. lol
Now comes to wait to see if next year's show will be worth going to. lol
