We are still using just our laptop for email and other computer functions....because we are still waiting for Dell to respond adequately to our need to get our Dell desktop unfrozen. I have no regard for Dell or their foreign outsourced techies at this point in time. Dick has talked with three different foreign techies.....two from India and one from an unknown country of origin. They try to help him and when it doesn't work make promises which never really happen. The second techy was to send the discs that were missing from our original purchase, needed to unfreeze the computer. He sent several discs but still not all the right ones. The third techy promised last Friday to send the correct disc....which on Wednesday, today, has not arrived. Drat, blast, and a few other choice words. When we get poor service from companies as we are on this situation, we DO NOT buy from that company again. (We did no buying for years at Sears when they gave poor service.) So, Dell will get no further business from us in the future as well as getting bad word of mouth from us to everyone we know. We have an appointment next week with the famous Geek Squad, since Dick didn't think Dell would be of any service to us.
Personally I think Dell and Norton AntiVirus are working together to make computers mess up if one tries to use anything but Norton. And as for the new anti-virus program.....they are at fault also from inadequate directions which lead a user to not get Norton erased properly enough so that a computer freezes up. (Dick insists he followed exactly the instructions on the new program. People are telling us it is hard to erase Norton enough to not have this problem.)
And THEN, a friend bought a new laptop recently from Best Buy. I happened to go with her at the time. Best Buy's employee charged her a wrong price on three parts of her purchase and gave her wrong info. on all of it. she returned it and got it all squared around and got refunds, BUT it was a major hassle for all of us.
Needless to say, I don't have good things to say about the world of business or technology right now.
