Thanks to
chanda_m for pointing me to the
Stitching Bloggers Question group!
This week the question is:
Do you do your stash shopping at your LNS [Local Needlwork Store], ONS [Online Needlework Store], or both? Which do you like better? Why?
I didn't realize how little stash shopping I actually do until this question. I don't actually have an ONS that I frequent. I do occassionally buy stash online, but usually because I need something specific and I don't have time to drive to the LNS.
I buy almost all my DMC floss at Hobby Lobby, unless I run out of one color for a current WIP, and then I run to Michael's or WalMart for that one. Specialty fibers I usually buy at
Welcome Stitchery in Crystal Lake, IL, which is my LNS. Designers Desk in Bloomingdale is an LNS closer to me, but they focus on needlework, and when I go there they almost always are missing something I really need (like right now, they are missing a website!).
I tend to buy fabric at Welcome Stitchery, and I tend to also look around there for charts I want to buy, and for charts fitting whatever project I have in mind. Most of my projects are gifts and I am usually specifically looking for a particular image.
If I have a chart and I want to start it, and I cannot get to Welcome Stitchery (it's a good 45 minute drive), then I search online for the fabric I want. I love
Silkweaver, but I tend to buy lots of my fabric from various vendors off of ebay.
