Masters degree

I generally hate trying to post to LJ using my iPhone, but today I'll make an exception. Earlier today, I walked across the stage to cheers of my name and received my Masters degree. There are a few things I am bitter about, but my mother and stepfather together really made a wonderful day. for which I am grateful ( Read more... )

BTW, the pointy bit on the sleeve of the masters' gown is called a liripipe. When I got my MA and was scheduled to give a speech during the ceremony, I stashed my notes in my right sleeve. Very handy. :)

Congratulations!

As weird as the too-long sleeves were, it was actually very handy to hold all my crap - they gave me a poncho, and I had a program, and my wallet and so on.

Also, re: names mispronounced. My maiden name is Americanized French. I've graduated three times, and even with a phonetic key on my name card, they pronounce it wrong. Unfortunately, it was hard to tell who they were calling when at my MLS ceremony, so I couldn't wait for them to figure it out. (The whole ceremony was a huge mess.)
