So thinking back to Calexico and Iron & Wine as well as a post by
mrbadluck regarding social graces and what is and is not appropriate, clown suits, and gayborgs. Is it a major faux pa when your talking to a band about how much you like their new album, is it inapposite mentioning that you just ripped that shit off for free from the internet or that a friend burned you a copy? It's my understanding that bands don't really make any money for record sales and that's its concerts, endorsements, and merchandising that are the true bread and butter. As for the heartless music companies, well screw them, they been screwing everybody for ages including the artists. I'm not saying it's right just wondering if annnoys the arists (except for Metallica.)I caught myself while talking with the boys in Calexico before it was too late. Basically was I mentioned that I really liked the new calibration and that a friend had sent it to me, without mentioning that it was a burned copy. I almost said"yeah my friend burned it for me." But thought better and stopped myself.
Oh and a special shout out to my friend JK for the CD. Thanks, dude!
