It's been a week of projects. Over the weekend while our son was visiting his aunt, my husband and I got some of our spring cleaning done. Among other things, we reorganized our AV cabinet, managing to fit in two boxes of movies that had been sitting in the basement for a couple years. I did lots of laundry and did some cleaning in the basement.
Then I also got a dress cut out while he was gone. It's really pretty. The cloth is a soft blue with vines and pink flowers on it but without being an overly busy pattern. I've almost got the back sewn together (3 pieces to the front and 3 to the back). Then I'll sew the front together before sewing in the neck facings and sleeves. I'm trying to get it done at least by the family picnic, though I would like to have it done by the time my in laws visit. My mother in law does sewing and yarn projects as well, so it's fun talking crafts with her. I know it could be done in a few days at most if I used my sewing machine, but that means pulling it out and trying to sew with an active 3 year old asking questions and getting underfoot. I'm sewing by hand instead in order to keep working on it during the day. He's done really well with leaving it alone so far. I've got to build up some callouses on my thumb again. It's been a long time since I did much sewing, and my thumb still feels the prickles from working the needle a couple days ago.
I've also been working on some embroidery. I have a kit I've been working on here and there for the past few years. I'm making some actual progress lately. I want to get that done soon as well, so I can finish the other half finished kit. Both of the kits feature cats. The cross stitch one looks very much like Peri, the cat we used to have who lives with our friends now. (She had jealousy issues after our son was born, kept peeing on his things.) I'm glad I still get to see her every week when we go game with them. My allergies also thanked me, when she moved there. Though I think at least half of it was from the litter and not the cat.
In addition to these projects, I've been playing on WoW. My primary toon (a rogue) is one of the core raiders in our guild, and my secondary toon (a priest) is getting geared up to be a backup healer in case we end up short on healing. I think it's fun, and it's been teaching me about tactics. I've learned a lot from my guildies, because I'm willing to ask for help when I need it. I've already taken my priest to Gruul's Lair, a 25-man raid. It was a bit scary trying to keep folks healed instead of pounding on things from behind, especially since I don't have much experience group healing yet. I think I did okay though.
Now it's time to go play Hi Ho! Cherry-O with my son. He got it for his birthday and wants to play it every day.
