Title: Everyday Kitchen Items
Author: 1sithlord
Theme: Train
Band/Pairing: Dir en grey
Notes: 700 words. I thought it was going to be shorter, but at least I am sticking to the 100 word increments. I apologize. This is the second installment to "The Everyday Life".

I'm going to kill them. I had heard our stop announced a while ago, and if I didn't find them soon we were going to miss it. The announcer came over the intercom and announced the stop again.

Shit.

This time they were going to pay. What the hell could they possibly be doing anyway? An image of Kyo lighting things on fire in an abandoned car flashed through his mind. He shook his head to clear it. Shinya would at least be level headed. He wouldn't let Kyo do anything crazy… would he?

The same scene played out in my head except Shinya was jumping up and down, and clapping, egging Kyo on.

Shit.

I need to find them fast.

What the hell is that banging? I turned a corner, and it became louder. It sounded like someone banging on pots and pans, but whoever it was had wonderful rhythm. I walked down the hallway cautiously, and soon I heard a very familiar voice belting out a very familiar tune. I came to the door labeled "kitchen" and slowly pushed it open.

Shinya was sitting on a stool next to the food preparation counter. Several pots of various sizes and shapes, along with some objects I could identify, sat in a neat arrangement on the counter. Shinya had two thin wooden spoons in his hands and was banging out a steady beat on the kitchen items while Kyo, who was off to the right looking in the large fridge, sang Yokan at the top of his lungs.

"What the hell are you two doing?!" I screamed before I could stop myself. Shinya was so startled he dropped a spoon, and knocked over several pots as he spun around to look at me. Kyo finally extricated himself from the fridge with a small bowl of rice and, what looked like, soy sauce.

"Hey, Kaoru." He looked down at the rice after he greeted me then looked back up quizzically, "You think they'll mind if I eat this?"

"'Something more exciting than the everyday life of Dir en grey', huh?" I spluttered.

"I'm sorry Kaoru, we didn't mean to cause any trouble," said Shinya looking apologetic. I looked over at Kyo who was now searching for something.

"We didn't do anything wrong, Shinya. Don't apologize to him." He pulled out a pair of chopsticks triumphantly, and started to pour soy sauce over his rice. "I'm eating this," he announced as a general warning.

"No you're not! We're going to miss our stop, thanks to you."

"We didn't hear them announce it," said Shinya confused.

"No, I bet you didn't with all the racket you were making in here."

"Hey, Yokan is one of our classics, and I happen to like it. Shinya isn't half bad on those pots either," mumbled Kyo through a mouth full of rice.

I saw Shinya smile proudly as he watched Kyo shovel his rice.

"Well, I'm glad you found something to distract yourselves. I swear you are both worse then Toshiya some times."

"I am not!" they both said at the same time.

"Shut up, and come on. We're going to miss our stop if you don't hurry up."

Shinya slid of his stool obediently, but Kyo was still shoveling his rice.

"Come on," I said exasperatedly.

He held up a finger, "Just a sec."

"Kyo," whined Shinya.

"All right, all right." He finally set down the bowl, and I left the kitchen with my two rogue band members in tow. "Some excitement," I thought exasperatedly. Hanging out in the kitchen while looking for food and playing old songs was far from what I would call excitement, but at least Kyo had stopped his incessant smoking and Shinya had stopped sighing in boredom. Now, if I could only do something about Toshiya. His incessant talking with this mysterious person was starting to annoy. Maybe next time I could send Toshiya off with Kyo and Shinya. I cringed suddenly as I thought of all the havoc they could reap together. Perhaps it was just best to leave things as they were. It was safer that way and everyone remained out of trouble… for the most part anyway.
