cell phones are scary

Yep, f-list, it's a rant.

Is anyone else getting kind of scared by cell phone commercials? When did pointing out the negative aspects of cell phones become a selling point?

Take this ad from Sprint. I wasn't paying attention the first time it came on and immediately after "three skiers are trapped on a ski lift" my hopeless romantic brain went to "so two of them are soul mates and this is how they come together." But no, instead we see the guy in the middle attempt to interact with the two girls and get rudely brushed off, only to start using his own cell phone.

Then, today, I saw this ad from Verizon. Shouldn't that family be enjoying their actual vacation? Shouldn't that bell hop be doing his job? Shouldn't that couple be focusing on each other while they make out?

I realize they do these things in jest as a marketing ploy to make you pay attention, but I've actually seen people doing these things, we all have, and it bothers me.

Sorry for the rant, but I just had to get it out.
